Governance

The BPC DAO is responsible for oversight of all aspects of the ndau monetary system. The original 23 topic areas identified by the ndau Collective are organized into seven domains: Governance and Ethics; Security, Privacy, and Trust; Monetary System; Endowment; ndau Currency; ndau Exchange; and Software Development.

As a result of the referendum vote on March 31, 2022, the BPC DAO is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization. DAOs are internet-native organizations collectively owned and managed by their members, and decisions are made via proposals the group vote on during specific periods of time.

As a DAO, the BPC DAO is an entity led by the community of all ndau holders. All BPC DAO decisions are made from the bottom-up, using an automated and weighted voting system based on the principles outlined in the ndau whitepaper, and thereby governed by a distributed community organized around a specific set of rules enforced on a decentralized and open source blockchain.

Oneiro, as directed by the Axiom Foundation, began work on April 1, 2022 to develop and deploy an automated voting system for the BPC DAO. This involved a major update to the ndau wallet app to integrate WalletConnect (an Open Source web3 communications protocol) and as well as building a new Web3-based voting portal that all ndau holders could securely connect to using their ndau wallet app in order to submit new proposals and vote on existing proposals using a weighted voting system based on how much ndau they hold and their currency seat status as described in the ndau whitepaper. Both the WalletConnect-enabled ndau wallet app and the BPC DAO Voting Portal were completed in November 2022.  A BPC DAO Discord is also available for all ndau holders and the general public.

The Axiom Foundation has contracted with Oneiro to facilitate and manage the functions and systems required for ndau and the BPC DAO. All new proposals can and should be debated rigorously in the BPC DAO Discord, however all new proposals submitted through the BPC DAO Voting Portal are subject to review by the Axiom Foundation based on their legality, technical feasibility and adherence to ndau’s fundamental framework as outlined in the ndau whitepaper for the benefit of all ndau holders.  Proposals submitted through the BPC DAO Voting Portal during a given month will be reviewed by the Axiom Foundation the following month.  After review by the Axiom Foundation, a proposal will either be permitted for public vote and posted for a public vote on the BPC DAO Voting Portal or it will be rejected and posted in the “#rejected-proposals” channel on the BPC DAO Discord along with a reason for its rejection.
